Real Estate Agents have access to Listing Services Database that can tell you about the homes in a particular area, price range, style and other needs and wants you may have. Together you can pick some homes to view, set appointments and go see the homes in a short amount of time. Real Estate Agents are there to help and guide you through the entire process. Talk to a Mortgage Professional: It is important that you talk to a Mortgage Professional before you begin looking. Whether it be your Credit Union or Bank or a Mortage Company it is important that you know what you qualify for, and that you are comfortable with the terms. Newspaper & Internet Ads: Going through the Real Estate section in your local newspaper can give you an idea of what is available on the market, as well as looking on many real estate websites. However sometimes these avenues are not up to date, and may not have many of the new properties that come on the market daily. Multiple Listing Service: Also referred to as the MLS, is a database for Real Estate agents that has properties in a database format of homes that are currently on the market, currently under contract (meaning have an accepted offer on them) and shows the properties that have sold. All of these are important in your search to find a new home because it will give you an idea of what the market is doing, what the values in a particular area are at. Your real estate agent should have access to this program/database, and should be able to pull the information you need to make an informed decision. The MLS includes: Previewing Homes: It is important when looking at homes that you make notes of the home, because after walking through 5-10 at a time, you will probably begin to forget which home had what. Write what you liked about the home and what you didn't like, preferrably on a copy of the Flyer or MLS printout given to you by your Real Estate Agent.
